Blake Tarver

As an Ironworker/Sheeter, I am experienced in installing, aligning, and securing structural and sheet metal components used in building and industrial construction. My work involves safely handling steel, sheet metal, and related materials to create strong and precise frameworks, roofing, siding, and enclosures. I am skilled in interpreting blueprints, operating tools and equipment, and ensuring high-quality installation while following all safety regulations.

As a Floorhand, I was able to demonstrate my true work ethic. I was responsible for making connections on the rig floor, as well as keeping the rig and rig floor well maintained and clean. I gained hands-on experience by nipple-up of BOPs, changing swabs, valves, and valve seats on pumps. I also assisted in mixing chemicals, spraying shakers, checking viscosity and mud weight, and performing small trips in and out of the hole. These responsibilities gave me valuable experience and showed my passion for the job well before I became a Derrickhand. When I was promoted to Derrickhand, I took on a leadership role by guiding and advising Floorhands, encouraging them to take pride in their work. My responsibilities expanded to include overseeing the mud pumps, mud tanks, and shakers, as well as monitoring and maintaining proper mud viscosity and weight. I was also responsible for pulling and racking back every pipe—from 4.5” drill pipe to heavy weights and drill collars—and running them all back in the hole without interruption. Overall, I managed all upper operations on the rig and ensured tasks were completed safely, efficiently, and to standard.
