To successfully pre tip tractor & trailer, ensuring the correct placard was showcased on all four sides of the trailer, and enter in all log information accurately.
I'd then communicate with dispacth to receive instructions on what refinery destination I'd be loading the compartment trailer at.
Once the communication was received I'd drive safely following all dot fmsca regulations to loading destination.
I became familiar with several fuel refineries in the area, Marathon, Shell, REG, & Placid Refining to name a few.
I'd be careful to follow all plant procedures once arrived.
That was ensuring I have with me all ppe, no cell phone usage, and long sleeved fire retardent clothing.
The loading process in those refineries was computer aided self loading systems with interlocks in place to mitigate problems.
Overfilling of compartments, loading without proper ground wire connection, and by passing the vapor recovery system were the reasons the interlocks were in place.
Each refinery had its on specific process but what was simlar was the products and how they were being loaded.
Those products were flammable liquids, such as gas, diesel, bio diesel, sulphur etc.
The first step was properly grouding the trailer and connecting the on board interlock system of the trailer to the refineries communication board.
This would pair the information of the trailers level detectors and ground detection to the refineries automated interlock system.
Next I'd exhibit a basic understanding in math when loading the compartment trailers, making sure the desired set point was within the allowances of the compartment size.
I'd repeat this step as many times needed until the trailer was completely loaded.
I would then print out the manifest and ensure it matched what i was transporting.
I'd then safely follow all dot and fmsca regulations as i ventured to the customer and begin offloading process.
The process of unloading fuel varied upon the variables.
If the customer was a convenentonal gas station with underground fuel tanks, a hose and fittings is all that would be needed.
After checking tank for impurities I'd connect a fitting that sat in place over the tank opening.
Then I'd connect a hose from the desired compartment to that fitting and let gravity influence athe low viscosity fluid to pour from the trailer to the tank.
If the customer has above ground tanks, a small Centrifugal pump was attached to the truck, i would connect a hose from the desired compartment to the suction lf the pump, then i would connect a hose from the discharge of the pump to the desired tank.
Before and during any unloading occured I would check the level of the tank I would be loading into.
I was properly trained to safely use all equipment operated.

Flex Truck Operator/Loader
Sgs Petroleum
Geismar
02.2018 - 11.2018
On the the truck side, my duties are to spot up Bulk Chemicals Tankers for loading. I drive an Ottawa flex truck and safely navigate around the the plant, weighing and delivering trailers to proper loading destinations.
Once trailers are loaded I deliver them to the final destination in which they will ship from.
On the operating side of the job its a lot more detailed. I am responsible for assisting in the day to day operations of my unit in the plant.
I get daily readings, that consist of confirming actual range is in agreement with set points of tank levels.
I check all safety and redundant alarms are functioning, monitoring pump conditions and trouble shooting problems that may occur, (cavitation, loss of suction).
I make sure containment walls are drained and shut, and readings of equipment usage or accurately logged for maintenance.
I have to responsibly handle my role in assisting in monitoring the overall safety of my specific unit and plant in its entirety.
I also am responsible for the loading and unloading of designated trailers.
First step upon loading a trailer is denergizing, grounding, and chocking the tires.
Making sure it is denergized is first priority.
Next, I assure the dates of all the D.O.T mandated inspections written on the trailer are up to date.
I double check the trailer according to my preloading checklist to make sure all the conditions are met according to company procedure.
Some process specific conditions are critical and can't be bypassed.
I make sure the rocks in the dessicsant dryer are the right color, ensuring the dew point of a shop cleaned trailer is in an allowable state.
Once all the particulars are verified, I hook up the load and and vent hoses to the load and vent ports on top of the trailer.
I assure the hoses are secure, then I line up the tank I'm loading from, to the truck I'm loading too.
Ensuring every valve is opened to the filter, then the truck, and simultaneously every vale that bypasses or redirects the flow is closed.
I monitor the level of the tank in which im loading from, ensurung level is dropping.
I can do this by watching the dp/cell which is secured to the tank, or I can watch the level on the computer by the way of the dcs system.
I also listen and check the loading hoses for vibrations and rumbling indicates product flow.
Also I watch the inlet and outlet gauges on my filters to ensure no plugging is occuring.
I can determine pluggage by the differential in pressurge gauges on the inlet and outlet side of the filter station.
If pressure on the upstream side is significantly higher than the downstream side, I understand there is some sort of blockage occurring.
Some products require a sample. I collect a sample by carefully throttling a quarter turn valve placed specifically along the pipeline.
Before doing this I make sure all ppe required is on for my personal and process safety.
I place the collection jar under the diacharge pipe and allown it to fill with prodcut.
After the samlple is collected it is send to the lab for anylyticals.
I dont need to stop loading to collect a sample.
Once I have reached my desired set point, I close the valves on the loading tanks.
I then purge my lines with nitrogen to clear out any residual product.
I do this by also closing the valves that allow product into the trailer.
I introduce nitrogen to the line and monitor it by pressure gauge.
Once I have a desire amount of nitrogen pressure built up, i open the valves on the truck.
I repeat this process at least twice, to ensure the lines are blown.
Once lines are clear I carefully disconnect the hoses and close and cap them.
I remove all safeguards I initially placed from the trailer.
I place the correct placards on all four sides of the trailer, and now it is ready to ship.

Chemical Truck Driver
Occidental Petroleum
08.2017 - 02.2018
To successfully pre tip the tractor and trailer and enter in all log information before I venture out for loading or delivering.
I always was fascinated with being more than just a driver so in cases where the average driver may have been taking the down time of getting loaded to rest, I followed and assisted in the loading of the tanker truck.
After loading was complete I would ensure the load bill manifest was accurate of what i actaully had in the trailer, and the placards matched.
I would then drive safely following all DOT fmcsa regulations to loading destination.
Following all Company Procedures I would then begin the delivery process.
I received special training in handling and delivering the hazardous chemicals the company produced.
I would put on all my ppe, which included a chemical resistant jacket and pants, rubber boots, hard hat and face shield.
This was done before breaking any seal on the trailer.
The chemicals I delivered to customers were Caustic Sodas, Potasium Chloride, Hydrochloric Acid, Methyl Chloride, and many other solvents.
The procedure called for trailers to off load with pneumatic air pressure.
The products could be offloaded with air air pressure because the presence of water would not affect the product.
The truck was equipped with a compressor, the comoressor functioned by intaking air from the atmosphere, compressing it and discharging it in tubing to the trailer.
I'd follow all company procedures to ensure a safe delivery of goods to the customer.
Heavy Truck Operator Lead man/Plant Operator Assistant
Halliburton Energy Services
06.2012 - 12.2015
It was at Haliburton Energy Services where I really got my first taste of working in a Process Plant like environment.
I got the training of learning a process and following complex procedures step by step for a desired outcome.
My job title was a truck driver, I quickly became the leader of my group and my role in the company grew as well.
I was responsible for driving specialized oilfield equipment to rig locations and performing job specific duties.
This was when I was educated on the Upstream Exploration side of the Oil & Gas industry.
Me and a crew of other employees, drivers and field techncians alike, would venture out to the various rig locations.
Each crew memeber was charged with the safe driving and operating of the specific piece of bulk equipment we were carrying.
Upon arrival to the rig site and all equipment was spotted we would run the job as the process called for.
Making sure to trouble shoot any unplanned problems.
The jobs im speaking of are various and technical, but in a nutshell they are all centered around the working, plugging, capping and finishing of oilfield wells.
I got hands on experience with tubing, unions, fittings, piping, and the process of mixing and blending chemicals for an desired outcome.
My role in this process was mainly to spot and back up all the equipment, and assist in the process.
When we werent in the field are on location, delivering product and assiting in the process, I was on the bulk plant doing the same.
The plant stored dry powders such as cement, barite, flyash and a host of other dry bulk materials we used in well blends.
These products were stored in storage tanks separately, and blended in mixing tanks.
The blends were all designed by Process Engineers who wrote the procedures.
So in summary I got almost four years of good experience in a fast paced environment, handling mixing and transporting chemicals.
I thought this would be my last job, it offered me good pay, great benefits, and consistency initially.
That was until the oilfield Began to decline and work began to slow dramatically.
Layoffs followed that an unfortunately I was a casualty.
That situation opened my eyes to different industries and got me out of my comfort zone.
Delivery Driver
Crescent Crown Distribution
02.2007 - 06.2012
This was my first job after a brief stint in college after high school.
I was a delivery driver of beverage products.
The trailer was loaded the previous night by Warehouse crew.
I would verify the accuracy of the load.
After confirmation i would secure all devices needed and drive safely following all dot fmsca regulations to loading destinations.
I would use a hand truck to transport profuct off the trailer to customer.
I was properly trained to safely use all equipment operated.
This was my first job out of college into my career.
I didn't have any previous commercial driving experience.
I was trained on this job and received my Cdl through this training.
It was a good job for me at that time being a young man who had never worked before.
As the years passed I realized as a Cdl holder I was seriously missing out on income with my average salary only being approximately 30k a year.
After five years of worrking there I found a an opportunity to get on with Halliburton Energy Services, an energy corporation in which I knew could be a place I could retire from.
