I am a Tulane graduate from the class of 2026 with a degree in philosophy and music science technology.
At the New Orleans Jazz Museum I do a wide variety of work. My main line of work is to help setup and regulate ADA requirements and standards. I help make sure that every item and path in the museum is as friendly as possible for the blind. My main project is to create a comprehensive audio tour for the blind. On top of this main line of work, I helped setup museum events and exhibitions, did work within the live performance/recording room where I helped record and do live mixing with the musicians that came to perform, did communications and research regarding Jazz International events, and general housekeeping around the museum. This position means a lot to me as someone who grew up in New Orleans, playing jazz drums from a young age and participating in the rich musical culture of New Orleans.
At Shades Recording Studio, I am an intern who helps my boss when recording artists. Work ranges from taking sessions where I recorded and mixed songs, to mic placement and setup, to simple tasks like bringing artists water or other basic accommodations. On top of this I was also an in house hip-hop producer and drummer. This experience helped me learn how to properly work with client based work/gig economy work and improved my communication and planning skills greatly.
During my last two years at Tulane University, I worked as a student worker in the music department. I did social media management including a series of student and professor interviews, tours of Dixon Hall, the music hall at Tulane, and fun social media posts for students, faculty and more to engage with such as curated playlists. I helped create scheduling and programs for musicians as well as proper accommodations for musicians who performed in our halls. Other smaller duties included editing and creating advertisement and posters for masterclasses and performances, Google spreadsheets work, and general office housekeeping.
