Summary:
Effectively lead and carry out the mission of East Baton Rouge Parish School System’s English as a Second Language (ESL) Program to improve the English language proficiency and academic achievement of English Learners through an effective language instruction educational program, high quality professional development, parent and family engagement, and continuous program improvement.
Essential Duties:
Summary: The primary responsibility of the Special Education Compliance Facilitator is to ensure that Special Education personnel remain compliant with State and Federal regulations through the timely development and submission of evaluations and IEPs. The Special Education Compliance Facilitator also serves as a resource to all school personnel on points of policy and procedure as well as instructional assistance in the classroom.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Tracks and informs teachers of upcoming re-evaluation and IEP due dates at their assigned school sites.
● Disseminates current class rolls to teachers and therapists at their assigned school sites.
● Writes and conducts all Initial and Interim IEPs at assigned school sites.
● Updates changes in teacher/student assignments at assigned school sites using special education software.
● Reviews IEPs and if the IEP is not compliant or is of questionable quality, the Special Education Compliance Facilitator will immediately inform the teacher and the school-site administrator that the IEP must be reconvened.
● Provides one-on-one assistance in writing IEPs with special education personnel in need.
● Provides training to special education personnel on how to develop compliant IEPs as well as how to utilize the IEP software.
● Facilitates the transfer of students with disabilities from one school to another including coordinating with the Transportation Department, informing all pertinent school personnel of the transfer, moving specialized equipment and training appropriate personnel.
● Provides training to special education personnel on policies and procedures and other topics relative to special education.
● Monitors compliance reports to assist in tracking re-evaluations and renewal of IEPs.
● Monitors the student’s records using the IEP software database to ensure successful submission of data to the State Department of Education.
● Communicates software problems to the Network Specialist using the tracking method as specified by the Special Education administration.
● Coordinates communication and training for teachers on software updates
● Develops reports as needed
● Assists administration and special education personnel with difficult special education issues and facilitates resolutions.
● Monitors special education folders and IEP folders for compliance with policies as it pertains to their assigned sites.
Summary: Serves as liaison for Exceptional Student Services concerning matters regarding integration of students with disabilities with non-disabled students on a regular school campus. Assists teachers in designing programs for students that would provide meaningful and appropriate learning experiences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Coordinates, plans, implements, and provides in-service training for administrators, teachers, staff, parents, and others regarding Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).
• Provides technical assistance to principals and school personnel to assist in the integration of students with disabilities with non-disabled students.
• Serves as resource person to school personnel regarding LRE.
• Monitors the status of students being integrated on regular school sites for compliance.
• Assists school personnel in selecting appropriate instructional materials and equipment and helps process requisitions for materials and equipment.
• Keeps abreast of current policies and procedures for integrating students with disabilities.
• Confers with other departments to keep them abreast of current policies and procedures regarding LRE.
• Ensures the implementation of long-range plans by writing and coordinating programs to enhance and expand the LRE concept.
• Consults with IEP team members and attends IEP meetings to facilitate LRE placements.
• Checks IEPs prepared by the ESS teachers, insured accuracy of information/student’s data, and submitted them to data management
• Observes the Special Education teacher’s instruction through pop in visits, provided immediate feedback, and conferred with the principal on the results of the observation when necessary
• Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as required.
• Actively plans and engages in activities that enhance their own professional growth.
