My time at Belle Chasse High School has been filled with many meaningful experiences and accomplishments. Throughout my time there I have taught the following subjects: World History, World History Honors, AP World History, AP Human Geography, Civics, and Law Studies. My students' scores for both AP World History and AP Human Geography have matched or have been above state, national, and global averages.
I have coached Cross Country and Track and Field. Each year we have brought our athletes to District, Regional, and State competitions.
For the past four years, I have been in charge of putting on a Veterans Day celebration (a task I inherited from a previous teacher) for our service men and women. Belle Chasse High School has many military-affiliated students and families due to the military base located in Belle Chasse. Veterans would come share their experiences with the students and teachers, enjoy some student performances, and then be treated to lunch.
I am involved in pep rallies, spirit weeks, and class competitions. Any chance to dress up and have fun, I am all in.
My principal at Faith Lutheran would always say that her teachers "wore so many hats." I cannot think of a truer statement. Faith Lutheran was a very small school with limited resources, but I made sure to give my students a quality middle school education. I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade American History, World History, Louisiana History, English, and Reading. I was an assistant coach for girls basketball and the coordinator for the school's 8th grade graduation ceremony.
Mount Carmel Academy was my first teaching job. I taught 9th grade World Geography and was an assistant coach for the 8th grade softball team. Teaching at MCA kind of felt like reliving my own high school experience, being a graduate of St. Mary's Dominican High
School. MCA is where I would say I learned the "how tos" of teaching. How to adequately plan and assess, how to properly discipline, how to maintain a productive learning environment, how to differentiate lessons and projects, how to collaborate with colleagues, how to build positive relationships with students, and how to properly manage my time and tasks.
Advanced Placement Certifications in AP World History and AP Human Geography through the College Board
