At FMT I have worked hard to be promoted from deckhand to tankerman to now pilot. I have always learned how to take care of every boat I'm on. In the wheelhouse I am someone that runs hard, but safe. I take pride in my record. I'm fair to the crew and try and get along with anyone to get the job done. I have experience from New Orleans to Corpus Christi, the Port Allen route, and Houston. My main run has been for Calcasieu. I don't have any knowledge above the north Baton Rouge bridge, but would like to learn it. I have also done recruiting for FMT by going to high schools during my off time and giving a presentation on the money, food, travel, work, and what kind of life they can build for themselves. I have always had positive responses from the students. Even after I leave, if they contact me, I'm more than willing to answer their questions.
I've been with FMT for 15 years and would like to find a company that I can stay with to build that loyalty again.
I handle the responsibilities of my watch driving, crew, paperwork, and phone calls. If shut down in the fleet or dock and a problem comes up I will go down and help them. Work my guys in a safe and respected matter as to get the best out of them. Also did some recruiting would go to high schools and give them a slid show with the perks of working on the water.
Was a private starting out and made it to specialist before getting out. Was in the infantry, did basic at Fort Benning then met my unit did our training and went to Iraq for 10 months. Got out cause they gave me the choice of the guard of working on the boat.
