I'm a team player, well liked in every job I've ever worked by both coworkers and supervisors. I have a good attitude. I'm thorough, detail-oriented and I get the job done. Having done float-pool nursing for 10 years at Rapides Hospital and then at Longleaf, I easily adapt to new situations/people, I learn very quickly and am quick thinking even in emergency situations. I believe I will be an asset to any workplace. I am happy to send letters of recommendation from my supervisors, upon request. I have strong attention to detail, noticing changes in patient status early on, frequently preventing escalation and adverse effects. My focus is on team collaboration and adaptability to changing needs. My supervisors appreciate my effective communication, problem-solving, and empathy in high-pressure environments. I'm often able to de-escalate situations. I feel that my background has prepared me to contribute significantly to enhancing patient outcomes and overall healthcare quality. For the last 6 months of my time at Longleaf, I have been in the Intake department and I am one of the fastest and most efficient nurses in this area, able to quickly but thoroughly complete the tasks, including insurance verification, pre-admission, triage/emtala, assessments, and criteria-specific unit designation.
Float pool nurse for the first 10 years, sent all over the hospital according to where I was needed, each shift. Became very capable of excellent patient care in any situation/setting. My home floor was 4 South, which is the renal/telemetry floor.
I was in the telemetry room for the last 8 years, transferring there when the department first began. I created the log/data entry sheets, helped develop the protocol, and assisted in creating the tests used in the hiring process. I trained the new employees.
I was Dr. Parrish's nurse. I was responisble for obtaining insurance preauthorizations for patients who needed surgery. I obtained all vital signs, history/physical info for the doctor. I assisted with in-office procedures - including wound debridement, cyst removal and other procedures that didn't require total anaesthesia. I removed surgical staples and sutures, and cleaned the room afterward - including proper sterilazation/autoclaving when needed.
I was the general office secretary for a time. I was responsible for answering phones, dispatching calls to the technicians and keeping the work flow running smoothly. About a year after hire, I was promoted to Accounts Payable and helped with the job takeoffs - mostly doing the electrical and HVAC runs. The biggest job I took off was the Cajun Dome renovation. I worked here until I finished getting my LPN license.
