Jeremiah Craighead

SGT in the United States Army National Guard. I have recently returned from a combat

deployment in Djibouti Africa, from May 2022 to JULY 2023. My duties included being the SOG (Sergeant of the guard) and supervising 13 soldiers and 4 to 7 KBR

personnel (contractors) who worked in security operations, while conducting Personnel Searches, Vehicle

Searches, surveillance and defense of Camp Lemonnier’s entry and exit points. When conducting operations, I

would identify all incoming personnel by scanning their government issued ID cards or passports with orders/

official memos for reason of entry. I then x-ray scanned the access granted vehicles and followed up with pat

downs of personnel and a deep search of the vehicle and belongings. When faced with conflict or violations were

present, I would notify my supervisor and respond in accordance with the army rules of engagement (ROE). I

have restrained and detained personnel who possessed drugs, other contraband, weapons, unauthorized devices,

items of intelligence value and prepared proper and accurate documentation for reporting incidents to military

police, and the chain of command. I am proficient in shooting with the M16, M4, 9mm/40mm/45mm handguns,

and non-lethal shot gun. I have conducted over 15,000 searches and have been awarded 2 army achievement

medals.

• Served as a member of the Oklahoma national guard, specializing in combat operations and tactical maneuvers.
• Deployed to Afghanistan as personal security detail from 2017 to 2018, ensuring the safety and security of civilian contractors and high-ranking military officers in high-threat environments.
• Led a weapon squad as a team lead, responsible for coordinating and executing missions, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the welfare of squad members
• Demonstrated exceptional leadership skills in directing and motivating team members during training exercises and time overseas.
• Supervised and trained soldiers ensuring proficiency needed to complete assigned tasks; served as team leader; maintained inventory of sensitive material and equipment; completed pre- and post-service checks on equipment
• Led fire team during infantry dismounted battle drills and situational training exercises.

• Trained in use of tear gas, passive ordnance, and explosives.
• Patrolled designated coverage areas and evaluated terrain for defensive use.

• Responsible for rule enforcement, prevention of prisoner escape and assaults, maintenance of general order in assigned area; respond to confrontations, riots, and other emergency situations as needed
• Searched cells of inmates to identify and confiscate contraband and other prohibited items.
• Maintained inmate safety through vigilant monitoring of behavior and swift intervention during conflicts.
• Reduced instances of contraband by thoroughly searching inmates, cells, and common areas.
• Observed and supervised inmates throughout visits, meal time, recreation, phone calls, and showers.
• Escorted inmates to and from cells, court, hospitals, and medical appointments.
• Assisted in the training of new correctional officers, providing guidance on best practices and procedures.
