Work History

Newscast Director

Hearst Television - WESH
Winter Park
11.2023 - Current
  • The first six months of my employment at WESH, I directed manually without automation. I had to adapt to this quickly as I had only directed with automation before then. After that six month period, we made the switch to Grass Valley Ignite automation, which I learned and became very proficient in. Then, a year later, we switched to another automation system called ShowControl. In my time at WESH I've successfully and effectively learned three new ways to direct shows through 3 different automation systems.
  • I've been the sole director on weekend nights at WESH. This means that with less staff on hand during weekend shifts, more decisions and more workload is placed on me. It requires multitasking, decisiveness, and well-rounded knowledge of everything from the rundown, to master control's operations, and some video editing decisions.
  • Directed multiple sports specials involving live coverage of the Orlando Magic and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
  • Worked through 2 hurricanes in 2024. I have a lot of experience with covering severe weather.

NewcastDirector

WBRZ NEWS 2
Baton Rouge
05.2018 - 11.2023
  • As director, my responsibilities included preparing the technical aspects of a news broadcast by coding in AP ENPS, then directing the floor crew during live broadcasts by calling out shots and insuring that everything plays out as planned.
  • After much of WBRZ's floor crew was replaced with automated cameras I learned to operate those cameras during a live broadcast in conjunction with directing the show.
  • I'm proficient in Edius editing software, having edited video footage and audio tracks to meet specific guidelines and parameters needed by the shows' producers.
  • I've handled manual studio cameras during news broadcasts which includes careful movement on live television.
  • As live broadcasts can often have complications, it has been a necessity to be able to learn to adapt on the fly, stay calm in stressful and dynamic situations, and to be decisive as every second counts on live T.V.
