Prepare the Operating Room

• Set up the OR with the correct surgical instruments, supplies, equipment, and sterile drape
• Help get the patient to OR (inpatient)
• Assist with Patient Positioning & Skin Prep
• Help position the patient safely (padding bony areas, securing belts/straps).
• Assist the nurse or circulator with prepping the surgical site.

🔪 DURING SURGERY (Intraoperative Duties)

Pass Instrument

Handle Specimens

• Correctly receive, label, and pass off specimens (e.g., tissue biopsy) to the circulator.

Use Instruments/Equipment

• Connect and manage equipment such as:
• Set up Davinci (robot)
• Suction
• Autoclave
• Surgery equipment & OR beds
• Neptune
• Tee Scope (clean after procedure)

🩹 AFTER SURGERY (Postoperative Duties)

Break Down the Sterile Field

• Dispose of sharps and biohazard waste.
• Clean instruments and send them back to central sterile for reprocessing.

Prepare the Room for the Next Surgery

• Help wipe down surfaces, restock, and reset supplies.

• Help the nursing maintain safety for our patients from surgery.
• Take temperature, applied warm blankets, remove airway with nurse assistance.
• Help with dressing changes
• D/c Iv, & foley catheters
• Help with bedside procedures
• Help transfer patient to inpatient when admitted.
• Stocked bays
• Answer phones, did charge papers at the end of day.
• Maintained cleanliness of patient areas, promoting a safe and hygienic space for recovery.
• Provided emotional support to patients and families, improving overall satisfaction with care services.

• Assisted residents with daily living activities, enhancing overall quality of life.
• Monitored vital signs and reported changes to nursing staff for timely interventions.
• Maintained cleanliness and organization in resident rooms, promoting a safe environment.
