· Responsible for the performance of every driver and fleet assigned
· Maximizes revenue through fulfillment of orders by ensuring trip targets are achieved
· Be first point of contact for customers through drivers on day-to-day operations in order to clear any exceptions issues
· Manages driver-related activities/performances and escalate recommendations to Drivers Administration unit and Fleet manager for necessary action
· Manages drivers to return of trucks within the stipulated time thus ensuring adherence to Turn Around Time (TAT) i.e. OTD+ On time Return.
· Manages drivers to deliver goods to location in adherence to OTD
· Reports all delivery diversions to Safety for proper assessment of risk and documentation
· Logs in diversion with necessary evidence with billing officers for reconciliation and payment of claims
· Collates and push for prompt offloading of delayed trucks
· Collates and advices yard liaisons of trucks returning with issues and their ETA
· Manages all conflicts that may arise from drivers
· Manages relationships with the Union officials at the various locations where applicable
· Leads/participates in Toolbox Meetings at his/her operating weekly or depot ensures the drivers attend
· Reports all safety incidents, including potential incident, to his/her Line Manager or Safety Manager or the platform provided for it and provides support in related investigation
· Support and/or participate in safety audits and take part in safety trainings
· Prepares and sends out Fleet Tracking Reports (FTR) as many times as required by Mgt.
· Monitor trucks movement, drivers’ behavior and others via the use of GPS and others
· Follow/ execute any instructions issued by Fleet Manager from time to time
· Ensures drivers performance are closely monitored and in line with targets set for asset
· Advises Client reps and Fleet Managers on Daily Truck Availability and follows through to ensure all available trucks are secured with load
· Reviews closely every trip / journey to ensure driver ply approved route only throughout the journey (Outbound and Inbound), using the tracking platform and manual systems i.e. Daily Fleet Monitoring report.
· Report all observed safety issues & participate in programs to keep operations safe
· Perform all other tasks as may be assigned by Management
