Surgical technologists are healthcare professionals who work in operating rooms to assist surgeons during surgical procedures. They ensure that the operating room is properly prepared, maintain a sterile environment, and pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare operating room for surgery by setting up equipment, supplies, and sterile field.
• Assist with patient preparation, including positioning and draping.
• Pass instruments, sponges, and other supplies to the surgeon during surgery.
• Maintain a sterile environment by monitoring and adhering to infection control protocols.
• Count sponges, needles, and other surgical materials to prevent retained objects.
• Help with post-operative cleanup, including removal of equipment and disposal of waste.
• Assist with patient transfer to recovery room.
• Monitor and report any complications or changes in patient condition.

Qualifications:

* Associate's degree in Surgical Technology or equivalent

* The surgical tech scrub, and donning gown and gloves. * Sets up the sterile back table and Mayo stand with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for the procedure. Performs initial instrument, sharps and sponge counts with the circulator

• Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
