Driven by a passion for continuous learning and improvement, I excelled at Prolec GE, mastering both mechanical and electrical troubleshooting. My journey from assembling voltage regulators to becoming a certified maintenance technician showcases my mechanical expertise and problem-solving skills, reflecting my ability to enhance efficiency and safety in industrial environments.
Professional technician with high standards and focus on achieving results. Skilled in troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance for variety of systems and equipment. Strong team collaborator who adapts to changing needs and ensures reliability. Known for problem-solving abilities, mechanical aptitude, and effective communication skills.
I started with this company as a contractor for hire through a temporary service (Career Adventures). I started in Interior Assembly where I helped assemble Voltage regulators. This helped me to understand the product we were building. Later having aspirations to move into a skilled position I learned of the FAME which is a program designed to help build skills and learn new skills along side with certifications and a degree. In May of 2023 I joined the maintenance team and worked full time while going to school full time.
During this time I was responsible for entertainment for families. I was tasked with the installation of whole home entertainment, not just tv. I installed WiFi as well. I learned about geosynchronous satellite systems and how to find them. Also how to properly align a dish to reduce interruption of service in inclement weather. I became a trainer then a supervisor over 30 technicians in less than a year. I had a year reprieve from this position when I worked at Sabre Industries, but when that did not work out for me I returned.
At Sabre Industries I received the ability to learn something new. Through Directv and Cable installations I have already had experience running low voltage cables, but here I was getting ground knowledge of the beginning of high voltage. I started out as a conduit hand where I was a green hand. I have never ran conduit before nor knew how to bend it. Wanting to make a showing on day one, I researched what it takes to be a conduit hand and learned formulas and skills needed to make correct measurements and how to bend precise bends in the conduit so it would have the fits necessary with out the wasted pipe. By doing so I quickly showed my ability to self motivate and be an asset for the company. Within four months I was the lead over the conduit department running three three man crews. At which I would find the work and ensure that each crew had all parts needed for each job to improve the effectiveness of our work. Afterwards I would personally check the work to have all defaults removed prior to inspection so that the units would pass and be available for electricians to start their work. Before leaving the company, I would follow electricians to start to gain knowledge of their works to try and become an apprentice.
Some of these skills I have had for some time, like safety awareness, and hand and power tools Through the FAME I have gain valuable skills applicable to industrial maintenance I have been certified in Fundamentals of Industry 40 Through this I learned about how current methods of industry have been adopted to streamline assembly lines and produce less waste I've been certified in welding, while in class I was able to learn multiple positions of welding and how to read a work order Learn the symbols of welds and how to apply this to a job that may be handed to me I've been certified with a digital multimeter I learned how to utilize this tool and safely use it to troubleshoot high and low voltage circuits I've been certified in electricity1 and 2 I learned to wire and troubleshoot basic circuits that will help me to learn complex circuitry I have been self taught from birth and through guidance of friends family and mentors to become an asset to any company that I work for Learn as much as I can about systems in place so that I can help my company be a success I am grateful for the opportunity I have been presented with and look forward to continuing to gain knowledge about Industrial maintenance so I can learn and become an effective troubleshooter, preventive maintenance and proactive maintenance technician
I began this journey as a 46 year old apprentice that had a high school GED. I knew coming in I had a learning curve to overcome because I have not been formally trained in any applicable skills. I have been a laborer all my life and never did get into any trades. The accomplishment of graduating with a 2 year Associates degree and 10+ certificates is an accomplishment that I am proud of. I have been a hard worker all my life because I have not had a choice. With the knowledge that I have gained I only see improvements to how hard I will be working.
